Associate Librarian Circulation Services, Hingham Public Library (Hingham)
The Hingham Public Library seeks a friendly, welcoming, and energetic customer service oriented individual to work on a team providing specialized supervisory and direct service work overseeing the Library’s busy Circulation Department. Candidate should be comfortable and experienced providing on-going instruction, training, leadership and guidance to staff; evaluating and reviewing staff work performance; working with and learning new technologies; providing excellent service to patrons of all ages from children to seniors; and preparing statistical and other reports as required. Duties involve supervising and training staff, assigning work, evaluating work performance, working at service desks, providing adult circulation services with emphasis on the expeditious circulation of Library materials to and from the public, resolving problems, and preparing and processing a variety of circulation reports documenting usage and other metrics. Other duties as assigned. Schedule is full time, 35 hours/week average, and includes some evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays as scheduled by the Assistant Library Director. Schedule subject to change throughout the year.
Qualifications
A candidate for this position should have a liberal arts Bachelor’s Degree and one to three years of relevant library work experience, including supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of supervisory and library work, preferably in a public library setting with an automated circulation system. Skills using technology are desired. Must be detailed oriented, capable of multi-tasking, and willing to work as part of a team. Demonstrated customer service skills in a library or retail setting preferred.
