Library Circulation Assistant, Needham Free Public Library (Needham)
The Town of Needham is seeking highly skilled individuals to fill part-time Library Circulation Assistant positions at the Needham Free Public Library.
Number of Vacancies: Two (2)
Hourly Salary: $20.01 an hour (Schedule C)
Hours: Daytime, evening, and Saturday & Sunday hours as scheduled, varying from 11 hours to 19 hours per week
Available shifts include:
Monday 9-1
Thursday 5:30-9
Saturday 9-1 and Sunday 1-6 (Saturday and Sundays are on a 4 week rotation, both days to be worked consecutively, same weekend.)
or
Monday 1-5:30
Thursday 5:30-9
Saturday 9-1 and Sunday 1-6 (Saturdays and Sundays are on a 4 week rotation, Saturdays and Sundays on separate weekends, not consecutive days to be worked.)
(When the library is open on Sundays, 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. September through June and 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in July and August)
Candidates should share their full availability. Actual schedules will be determined based on the successful applicants availability and the library’s needs.
Qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with library patrons; assisting them with information and/or directing them to appropriate locations or staff
Process library checkouts, renewals, returns, reserves, registrations
Maintain orderliness of materials collection
Perform other circulation procedures as required
Requirements
To be considered for the position, applicants must have at least:
Excellent customer service skills and capacity to interact effectively and tactfully with the general public
Familiarity with computers
Ability to perform detailed work accurately and efficiently
Capability to adapt to new technologies as required
Capability of standing for 4 ½ hours at a time. If working a full day, there will be a lunch break and two fifteen-minute breaks.
Capability of bending, lifting up to 40 lbs., and pushing book carts loaded with books
