Information Services Associate, Regis College (Weston)
Summary
Under general direction of the Library Director, the Information Services Associate will serve as a resource for patrons, facilitate access to library services and programs, provide superior customer service and administer library policies.
Essential Functions:
• Provide excellent customer service to all Library patrons.
• Field a wide variety of patron questions and refer to appropriate library or campus service areas as needed.
• Assist in the operations of overall library services, including Circulation Desk and Reference Area; will assist library staff in the process of course reserves, maintain ILS records, and process consortium requests.
• Support for the interlibrary Loan department including processing requests and helping resolve issues.
• Troubleshoot and assist patrons with use of computers, library copiers, scanners, microform printers, and other library equipment.
• Use online library systems to circulate library and reserve materials, register new patrons, update and maintain confidentiality of patron records.
• Sort and shelve library materials, search for missing items, shelf-read, do floor-pickups, shift stacks, and process library material when needed.
• Direct students including assigning tasks, training, payroll and resolving schedule issues when needed.
• Open and close the library, when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
• Supervise Library student employees under the direction of the Director, in accordance with Regis policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a Library or enrolled in library degree program.
• Circulation experience preferred.
• Customer service experience required. This is an in-person, front facing circulation position.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Graphic design and/or display experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as collegially in a team environment and within a diverse community; prior supervisory experience and training skills preferred.
• Proven ability to perform multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; detailed orientated.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
• Normal office environment, however, the circulation desk shares the Tegan Learning Commons lobby with a Dunkins’ counter that may raise noise levels or odors during busy periods.
• Regular interruptions to assist library patrons. Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
• May spend extended periods at terminal or on telephone requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
• May be required to walk, stand, bend, reach, and lift books and materials.
