Senior Library Associate, Auburn Public Library (Auburn)

This is a 37.5 hour per week position. Staffing the main circulation desk, reference desk, or children’s reference area at least 20 hours per week is required, as determined by the Director. Will involve working at least one Saturday per month to support the needs of the Library operating hours. No Sundays.
This position supports the strategic growth and expansion of the daily processing, organization, and reporting of Library resources in the area of Resource Sharing (Holds) and cataloging. The successful candidate will have experience with Evergreen and knowledge of the CWMARS network. Position responsibilities will also include record-keeping, enthusiasm for assisting with Library programs, particularly those with children, and other duties within the parameters of the Union Bargaining Unit, as assigned by the Director. Training with some of the desired requirements of the position will be supported for the right candidate. Exceptional communication skills and positive energies are required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. A minimum of one year of full-time experience working with a library automation/information system (Evergreen) is required. At least two years’ experience with circulation and / or reference at a public library is highly desirable. Ability and desire to learn additional functions and to support ongoing improvement of operational efficiencies is expected.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with verbal and non-verbal, active listening, visual communication, responsiveness, and in writing, with all staff, management, and other stakeholders is critical. Aptitude for dealing diplomatically, enthusiastically, and consistently with the public, incorporating an outstanding public service demeanor is also required. Ability to understand, follow and communicate detailed oral and written instructions is essential, as is the responsibility for adhering to the policies and procedures of the Library. Must be able to function in an often fast-paced environment. Must be able to hear and speak at normal levels, lift up to 40 pounds, and use technologies and other devices such as would be required in an office environment. Must be able to work dependently and independently to quality outcomes.
The position falls within the Local 2936, United Steelworkers, AFL-CIO Collective Bargaining Unit. Salary range is based on Step increases, with an introductory salary range of $21.24 - $24.69 Full benefits.
