Part-time Librarian, Colby Memorial Library (Danville, NH)

Due to a retirement, the Colby Memorial Library is seeking a Librarian, preferably with experience in children's services, to join our team. The Librarian will plan, prepare, and deliver story times for groups of toddlers and pre-school children including storytelling, movement and crafts. Also promote literacy in children of all ages including with a book discussion group for older children as well as designing programs and special events including for our Summer Reading Program. Adult duties include staffing the circulation desk using automated systems, registering patrons, providing information about the library and explaining how to use our online resources, curating displays, shelving books and assisting with interlibrary loan requests. 

Qualifications

Minimal Requirements: Experience working in a library, particularly in children's services or a combination of education and or work experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

Strong working knowledge of children's literature and experience in collection development.

Knowledge of library principles, practices, and policies.

Proficient in library and office technologies.

Familiarity with social media and its role in promoting libraries.

Ability to use mobile devices.

Ability to work independently and prioritize duties.

Written and oral communication skills and comfort speaking before groups.

Strong public service skills and eagerness to serve all patrons with welcoming and friendly service.
