Assistant Circulation Librarian, Beverly Public Library (Beverly)
The Assistant Circulation Librarian works under the general supervision of the Head of the Circulation Department.
- Supervises the Circulation Department in the absence of the Head of Circulation
- Supervises and trains circulation staff in the absence of the Department Head
- Serves as the main point of contact for museum passes at the Main library. Coordinates pass renewals with the Friends of the Beverly Public Library and area museums. Updates and maintains museum pass information in Assabet. Trouble-shoots issues and works with Assabet staff as needed. Coordinates museum pass publicity with the Communications Department.
- Runs circulation reports and resolves relevant issues
- Performs circulation and reference desk duties; Assists at Farms branch when needed
- Coordinates the adult Readers Advisory efforts: develops materials for in-house and online displays; Provides personalized book lists for library patrons; Provides professional development to staff in the area of reader’s advisory
- Responsible for collection development for assigned area(s) of the collection
- Participates in both selection and collection development for the overall adult collection
- Develops or assists with adult programming
- Attends professional meetings, including NOBLE Circulation and Evergreen meetings.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other staff members. Communicates effectively with the public and staff. Assistant patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assists Department Head with special projects
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from a graduate school accredited by the American Library Association.
