The Framingham Public Library, located just 20 miles west of Boston, is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Information and Research Librarian Substitute to join our dynamic team in the Information and Research Department. In this flexible role, you will support our library community by providing excellent research services, technology assistance, and customer care at our Main Library, McAuliffe Branch Library, or on the Bookmobile.
Qualifications
Reference Services coursework from an accredited Master's Degree in Library Science program, a Bachelor’s degree with partial completion of relevant coursework, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years public service experience, library experience preferred
• Comfortable using computers
• Knowledge of:
o Integrated Library Systems (ILS), preferably Innovative Sierra
o Library operations, procedures, and troubleshooting library technology and equipment
o Familiarity with collection development, specialized reference subjects, and automated sources is a plus.
• Abilities & Attributes:
o Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and with diverse groups of people.
o Tact, diplomacy, and flexibility in handling various situations.
o Contribute to a positive, welcoming, and inclusive library experience.
• Needed Skills:
o Strong communication and organizational skills.
o Bonus: Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is a plus!
