Library Assistant, Wales Public Library (Wales)
The Wales Public Library seeks a detail-oriented, friendly, proactive self starter, and creative quick-learner who will perform a variety of tasks, including reference, reader's advisory, circulation functions, and processing materials.
Duties include: Provide information on library services. Check library materials in and out. Collect, sort, and shelve items. Process new library materials for circulation. Provide in-person, telephone, or email assistance to patrons by reviewing library accounts, placing holds, renewing books, locating materials, and responding to research inquiries.
Assist patrons with use of computers and other technology. Prepare crafts and some displays. Will also assist the with creating, distributing, and posting information promoting library events, both physically and electronically. This position works closely with the library director, and other staff, and may be asked to assist with additional projects as needed. Other library-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
High school diploma/equivalency required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Microsoft Windows and word processing proficiency. Familiarity with Evergreen, Commonwealth Catalog, interlibrary loan systems helpful. The successful candidate must be organized, have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and work well with a wide variety of people. Must be reliable, have the ability to problem solve, work alone and independently and have flexibility to substitute, when called upon.
