Supervisor of Reference Services, Westfield Athenaeum (Westfield)
The Supervisor of Reference Services is responsible for coordinating and administering all programming and activities in the Reference Department. This position requires the understanding of contemporary library services and an understanding of reference services in a fast-paced public library. This position also requires the occupant to possess a thorough understanding of the public's informational needs, the ability to manage a large staff performing a variety of library functions, and leadership skills necessary to guide the institution into the future. Other duties will include: overseeing the selection of all materials assigned to staff, provide engaging and dynamic reference service, implement new programs and services for patrons, and provide monthly and yearly statistics related to the ARIS report.
Qualifications
A Masters Degree in Library and Information Science is highly desired, but not required. At least three years of experience in a public library is desired. Experience with current information technologies and developments in all areas related to public libraries is also needed, along with excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to teach library skills to staff.
