Outreach Librarian, Westfield Athenaeum (Westfield)
Reporting to the Supervisor of Reference Services, the Outreach Librarian is an enthusiastic, energetic, and service oriented individual who plans, promotes, and supervises programs, creates promotional print and online materials for programs, delivers library material to homebound patrons, and staffs the reference desk on assigned shifts. The position requires a flexible work schedule, including the need to work some nights and weekends.
The primary duty of the Outreach Librarian is to plan, promote, and supervise the library's wide range of programming. Other duties include: creating promotional material for press releases, social media, posters, signage, and the library's website. This position also requires a person who can provide inclusive, engaging, and dynamic customer service, offering reference and basic technology assistance to our patrons. Also included in the duties for this position is the ability to research and write grants to secure program-specific funding, manage a calendar for meeting-room bookings, and deliver books and other materials to homebound patrons.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree is highly desired. An MLS is preferred. Three to five years of experience in fundraising, marketing, social media management, graphic design, and community development is highly desired. Excellent customer service and communication skills, computer literacy, and excellent planning and organizational abilities are required.
