Technical Services Assistant, Meekins Library (Williamsburg)

Technical Services

Performs cataloging and classification of library materials.

Processes print and non-print materials, including labeling, covering, and physical preparation.

Maintains bibliographic records and follows CW MARS cataloging protocols.

Assists in developing and implementing cataloging and processing procedures.

Collection Maintenance

Maintains the physical condition and organization of library collections.

Assists with collection development, weeding, and inventory projects.

Ensures materials are accessible and discoverable for patrons.

Technology and Digital Services

Performs routine troubleshooting of computer hardware, software, peripherals, photocopiers, and audiovisual equipment.

Provides technology support to patrons, staff, and volunteers.

Assists with website maintenance and digital resource management.

Supports social media and digital content delivery efforts.

Resource Sharing and Public Service

Assists with CW MARS-related activities and system functions.

Provides positive public service at the main circulation desk and answers basic reference questions.

Assists patrons with computer access and technology-related needs.

Professional Development

Participates in professional development activities and follows current library trends and best practices.

Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree. Additional library or technical training preferred.

Experience with computers and technology troubleshooting.

Strong organizational and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

Experience working in libraries, municipalities, or nonprofit organizations.

Experience with integrated library systems and cataloging procedures.

Experience with website maintenance, social media, or digital resources.

Schedule and Compensation

17.5 hours per week. 35 hours per pay period.

Work one Saturday per month.

Hourly Rate: $23.92
