Computer Coordinator/IT, Holyoke Public Library (Holyoke)

The Computer Coordinator is responsible for ensuring public access to technology, supporting 
digital literacy, and maintaining a secure and efficient computing environment within the library. 
This role provides one-on-one assistance to patrons in navigating the internet, using email, and 
utilizing essential software for job applications, document creation, and communication. 
Additionally, the Computer Coordinator plays a crucial role in network administration by 
managing and securing the library’s internet infrastructure, ensuring a reliable and safe online 
experience for all patrons. This includes troubleshooting connectivity issues, implementing 
cybersecurity measures to protect patron data, and optimizing network performance to 
accommodate multiple users. The position also oversees public-access computers, laptops, and 
tablets, ensuring they remain updated, secure, and functional.  


Required Skills/Abilities:  
-Provide hands-on support to patrons. 
-Conduct one-on-one and classroom-based digital literacy lessons to help patrons 
develop essential technology skills, such as internet navigation, email management, and 
document creation. Conduct computer training for library staff. 
-Manage and maintain the library’s network infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable 
internet access for patrons: 
-Oversee and troubleshoot public Wi-Fi and wired network connectivity, ensuring 
fast and stable access for all users.  
-Implement cybersecurity protocols to protect patron data, including firewall 
management, virus protection, and encrypted connections. 
-Ensure all public-access computing devices are functional, up-to-date, and secure, and 
maintain and support library software. 
-Ensure the library’s online presence is accessible, secure, and informative and in 
compliance with ADA accessibility standards. 

Qualifications

Two years’ experience in Computer Technology and Support; Microsoft Windows and Office 
experience; prefer A+ and Net+ certification; understanding of Library operations and service 
mission, including experience with automated circulation systems. Customer service and 
teaching skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, operate computer 
systems efficiently, diagnoses operational problems, and responds to user technical assistance 
requests, web markup skills, including HTML and CSS.
