Technical Services Librarian, Sawyer Free Library (Gloucester)
We are excited to announce an opening for an experienced Technical Services Librarian at the Sawyer Free Library in Gloucester. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and knowledgeable professional to join our team. We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with our great staff, as we prepare for the grand opening of our new library in 2025.
Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Library Director
Director. Responsible for planning, administering and coordinating
professional technical library services that facilitate access to and
discovery of library physical and digital resources. Responsibilities
include acquisitions, receiving, cataloging, processing, inventory, digital
preservation and curation, and web content. Provides public service as

Qualifications
Masters in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association
accredited library school required.
Two years of cataloging experience with an Integrated Library System software in a
networked public library.
Demonstrated experience with original cataloging, metadata management and
classification standards. Demonstrated proficiency in creating bibliographic records for
unique or non-standard materials according to established cataloging standards such as
MARC, RDA and AACR2.
Detail-oriented and proficient in accurate record keeping
Demonstrated skill in processing physical materials
Demonstrated experience with digitization standards and processes.
Demonstrated experience with specialized software such as web content management
software, e-mail services, social media interfaces etc.
Demonstrated reference and readers’ advisory skills
Knowledge of computers, operating systems, and other technology equipment; ability to
perform basic tasks and troubleshooting such as installing software, resolving printing
issues. Proficiency with e-readers, tablets and mobile applications.
Demonstrated knowledge of the methods, practices, principles and procedures of
professional public library work
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public, staff,
external agencies, and to work as a member of a team
Demonstrated commitment to delivering consistent, high quality customer service
Ability to self-direct and initiate.
