Part Time Library Clerk, Lakeville Public Library (Lakeville)
Performs all circulation duties using a web-based system, registers new patrons, provides basic information referral and services from outside resources. Assists patrons in locating library materials and instructs patrons in use of library equipment such as copier, scanner, online card catalog and other electronic library resources and digital collections, as well as the Internet. Provides directional reference, reader’s advisory services and homework help. Provides information over the telephone concerning library hours, available materials, museum passes, or materials on loan.
8-12 hour work week. Saturday schedule set on rotation. Current schedule: Mondays 4-8, Tuesdays 10-2, and the third Saturday of each month.
Qualifications
Some college required. Experience working in a public library preferred.
General knowledge of library policies and procedures, including automated circulation systems and information technology.
Ability to interact tactfully and appropriately with library patrons of all ages.
Good interpersonal and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently, follow directions and complete projects with minimum supervision. Computer skills – proficiency with word processing, print shop and Internet necessary.
Ability to work as a team member, communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
