Part-time Professional Librarian -- Youth Services, Wayland Free Public LIbrary (Wayland)

The Wayland Free Public Library is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Professional 
Librarian position in our busy Youth Services department. We are a very family-oriented Library 
that places a high value on providing personalized service with an emphasis on being warm, 
welcoming and inclusive. The part-time Professional Librarian assists children, parents and 
caregivers in locating and requesting age-appropriate materials and information using Sierra and 
Aspen Discovery. Performs tasks relating to circulation services, responding to patron queries, 
providing new library cards and related duties. Works closely with the Youth Services Librarian 
and the Youth Services team in providing programs geared towards pre-school and elementary 
school-aged children, as well as tweens and teens, during the school year, in addition to our 
Summer Reading program offerings.
The schedule includes at least one weekend shift per month, with additional shifts possible, 
including some evenings. Must be flexible and able to cover shifts on an as-needed basis. May be 
responsible for opening and closing the Children's Room on occasion.

Qualifications

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master of Library Science (MLS), or currently enrolled and making progress 
towards an MLS.
Experience: Demonstrated experience working with children and/or tweens and teens preferred.
