Assistant Adult Services Librarian, Wilbraham Public Library (Wilbraham)
Manages the outreach program for home-bound residents and assists with adult programming and collection development. Participates at the circulation desk and provides reference services to library patrons including answering reference questions, assisting customers in the proper use of library technologies systems and service as an adult reader's advisor. Requests inter-library loan materials for out-of-state requests; places patron holds on library materials and maintains a balanced collection. Average of 17.5 hours per week. Preliminary schedule is Tuesdays 9-2, Wednesdays 3-8, Fridays 12-5, alternating Saturdays 9-2 (possible Sunday shifts between Labor Day and Memorial Day as determined by the Board of Library Trustees).
Qualifications
Graduate of four year college, Master's Degree in Library Science from a program accredited with the American Library Association strongly preferred; 1-2 years of experience in library services, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience; knowledge of library science and management principles, practices and procedures, library programs, services, and operations, excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent customer service skills. Candidates for this position should proficiently use applicable computer software, e-mail and the internet.
