Reference Librarian, Springfield City Library (Springfield)

Due to a retirement, we have a new opportunity for you to consider. This full-time, 37.5 hours/week, entry-level job is based at the East Forest Park Branch Library.  This state-of-the-art branch was built in 2019 and features a large community room, teen and children’s rooms, a makerspace, multiple study rooms, and an enthusiastic community. The Reference Librarian is part of a nine person team and has shared responsibility for reference services, reader's advisory, tech assistance, collection maintenance of print and non-print materials, programming, outreach, community engagement, and similar duties pertaining to adult and/or youth services. The annual salary is $53,631, with the opportunity (optional) to earn more by working extra hours, including 5 hour shifts on Sundays, with Sunday hours paid at time and a half. When you apply, please include a cover letter so we can get to know you.

Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and the completion of an American Library Association-accredited Masters of Library Science. Candidates currently enrolled in an MLS program may also be considered. You'll need an excellent customer service orientation; and a "turned outward" approach to community engagement is ideal. Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Dari, or other community language). The City of Springfield has a residency requirement and allows new hires up to a year to establish residency.
