Technical Assistance Fund

The Clean Energy Group Resilient Power Project focuses on “the equitable deployment of solar+storage technologies in historically marginalized and underserved communities”. The Technical Assistance Fund grants support feasibility assessments for solar + storage on a project.

Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER)

Green Communities Division

The Green Communities Division (GCD) provides grants, technical assistance, and local support from Regional Coordinators to help municipalities reduce energy use and costs by implementing clean energy projects in municipal buildings, facilities, and schools.

Climate Leader Communities

The Climate Leader Communities program helps municipalities reduce emissions by electrifying non-electric energy uses and maximizing the efficiency of buildings and transportation. Participants must first achieve Green Community status.

Massachusetts Energy Rebates & Incentives

DOER provides a compilation of incentives and rebates in MA for homes, businesses, and institutions.

Mass Save

New Construction & Major Renovations

The New Construction & Major Renovations program provides support and incentives/rebates for optimizing energy use and incorporating energy systems into construction projects.

Upgrades for Municipalities

Mass Save's Municipalities program provides incentives/rebates for municipalities looking to upgrade to energy efficient systems, including lighting, water heating, and heating/cooling.

American Library Association

Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities

Accessible Small and Rural Communities grants are available to small and rural libraries to increase the accessibility of facilities, services, and programs to better serve people with disabilities. To be eligible, a library must have a legal area population of 25,000 or less and be located at least five miles from an urbanized area, in keeping with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) definitions of small and rural libraries.

Municipal ADA Improvement Grant Program

The Municipal ADA Improvement Grant provides reimbursement funding to Massachusetts cities and towns to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Funding supports updating a municipality’s ADA Self Evaluation and Transition plans and making capital improvements that improve access or remove barriers in municipal programs, services, and facilities.

Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund

Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund provides state-funded 50% reimbursable matching grants for preservation of properties, landscapes, and sites (cultural resources) listed in the State Register of Historic Places. Applicants must be a municipality or nonprofit organization.

Massachusetts Cultural Council

Cultural Facilities Fund

The Cultural Facilities Fund provides major improvement grants to nonprofit cultural organizations, in recognition of their profound economic impact on communities across Massachusetts.

Association of Rural and Small Libraries (ARSL)

Sustainable & Resilient New England Libraries Grant

This grant from ARSL must be used for facility improvements or outreach and programming activities that provide the library with sustainability and build resilience, and have been used for projects including ADA updates, energy-efficient upgrades to building systems, weatherization, and sustainable facility certification. Libraries must serve populations meeting the IMLS definition of a small and/or rural library. ARSL membership is not required to apply.

US Department of Agriculture (USDA)

Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program

The Community Facilities program provides funding "to develop essential community facilities in rural areas." Library projects in cities, villages, townships and towns including Federally Recognized Tribal Lands with no more than 20,000 residents according to the latest U.S. Census Data are eligible.
