Circulation Assistant, Sandwich Public Library (Sandwich)
Sandwich Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic individual to work as a Library Assistant in our Adult Circulation department. This position requires providing excellent customer service, assisting patrons by checking in and out library materials, booking museum passes, shelving materials, and answering questions in person and on the phone. This position may also cover shifts in the Children’s Room and Reference Desk.
Sandwich, the oldest town on Cape Cod, is a vibrant community of 20,000 with many wonderful and supportive patrons. The Library, renovated in the last four years, plays an important role in the community and the lives of our patrons.
This is a full-time, 35 hour per week, union position with excellent benefits. Regular schedule will include evening hours until 8:30pm and alternating Saturdays from 9am-4pm.
* Performs varied library services in the circulation of library materials and assists patrons in using the Sandwich Public Library.
* Works within a complex automated and integrated resource sharing database used by the Old Colony Library Network.
* Position performs clerical duties including answering phones, filing, customer interaction and assistance.
* Candidate must be organized, articulate and have excellent customer service skills.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or the equivalent and some experience in using libraries. Bachelors’ Degree and experience working in libraries preferred; computer experience and clerical skills required.

Starting wage with increases in 11 annual steps per Collective Bargaining Agreement. Wage will increase to 22.27 on July 1.
