Asst. Youth Services Librarian (Children's), Reuben Hoar Library (Littleton)
The Town of Littleton is looking for a responsible librarian to support the Children’s and Young Adult Departments of the library (position primarily works in the Children's room.) Duties include assisting with the provision of Children’s and YA services; managing department in absence of Children’s Librarian and/or YA Librarian; reference and research assistance; reader’s advisory; assistance with computer catalog and bibliographic instruction; programming both in person and virtually; supervision of staff and volunteers; displays and exhibit case; maintaining the collection; clerical duties.
Some work at the Library Main Circulation Desk required. Provides first-line information and assistance to patron research using library collections, databases, and Internet and community resources. Maintain a welcoming and orderly atmosphere in a public space used by a variety of people with different needs and expectations. Appraise and respond professionally to unexpected situations in the library. Performs all other related work as required.
Mandatory Saturday work hours are expected.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have a Masters Degree in Library Science from an accredited school or a related Master’s Degree, as well as two years of experience in public library service; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of reference services. Proficient in using Microsoft Office or similar software; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
