POSITION SUMMARY
We're looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused individual to join our library as an AV Librarian. In this role, you'll manage our diverse audiovisual collection while also providing essential services at the circulation desk. This position is a great fit for someone who loves both organizing media and interacting with the public.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the review, ordering, cataloging, weeding and maintenance of the all audio-visual media in the collection within the scope of the collection development policy.
· Schedule and create exhibits in the library, publicity highlighting the audio-visual and periodical media collection, both digital and print collections.
· Check library items in and out for patrons.
Assist patrons in placing holds, applying for library cards, and other general circulation functions.
Answer phones and transfers calls.
Assist patrons with copier, printer, and fax machines.
Assist patrons with basic computer queries; assist with mobile technology as it relates to library use.
Shelve items in all library departments.
Assist with interlibrary loan processing and making calls to patrons.
Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Minimum Qualifications
· Associate's Degree
· Previous experience working with the public in a library or similar setting.
· Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office, online searching, Internet browsers including Chrome, email, printers, smartphones, telephones, copier and fax machines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Customer service experience.
Ability to problem-solve, and to prioritize tasks, both when busy and during down time.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Competence using a phone system to place calls on hold, transfer calls, etc.
Ability to determine which phone calls or in-person queries to handle, and which to elevate to a supervisor or other department.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patron records.
Demonstrated ability to work with the public and with co-workers.
Willingness to work with other library departments as a team to ensure staffing coverage and professional service to all library users.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
· A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Library Science (from an ALA-accredited institution) or related field. Current MLIS students are encouraged to apply.
· Experience with Evergreen ILS and/or the CWMARS online public access catalog.
· Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of modern public library systems and programs; thorough knowledge of library collection classification and selection tools and techniques; considerable knowledge of equipment and facilities required in a comprehensive library system; considerable knowledge of community library needs and resources.
· Broad knowledge of the history and current trends associated with entertainment, social, and artistic culture as expressed through film, music, television, fiction, nonfiction, news media, and the vast digital landscape.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The work is performed in common space open to the public. The work may require motor skills for activities such as using office equipment, including but not limited to telephones, personal computers, handheld technology, and other office equipment. May be required to lift objects such as office supplies and library materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Will need to re-shelve, read, and retrieve materials at floor level and overhead. Essential position functions require ability to routinely read materials for general understanding and analytical purposes and ability to view documents on a computer screen.
