Learning Services Project Manager, Massachusetts Library System (Marlborough)
The Massachusetts Library System (MLS) is looking to hire a Learning Services Project Manager. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with a passion for leading and managing projects and for contributing project management expertise to initiatives related to consulting and training services. General Information
This is a new, full time (37.5 hours per week) exempt position, based out of either our Marlborough or Northampton, MA office. This position carries the title of “Learning Services Project Manager.” The position description is linked here and is incorporated into this job advertisement. The Learning Services Project Manager will report to the Consulting & Training Services Director.
The successful candidate may have the opportunity to telecommute part of the week with approval of their supervisor. (Please note, however, that this is not a fully remote position.) As stated in the Learning Services Project Manager position description, the full salary range for this position is $64,032 - $89,652. The starting salary will fall within this range and will be based upon education and experience.
About MLS
MLS is a state-supported non-profit organization that provides a variety of services to our 1,500+ member libraries across Massachusetts, including state-wide materials delivery, mediated interlibrary loan, online resources, consulting, and training. MLS supports all types of member libraries, including academic, public, school, and special libraries. The Learning Services Project Manager position will be part of MLS’ Learning Services Department. The goal of the Learning Services Department is to help our members accomplish their goals through sustainable and equitable consulting and training services.

Position Overview
The Learning Services Project Manager will be responsible for leading and/or providing expertise to learning related projects within the Learning Services Department. Work will include the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing of projects. This position will work on the creation and improvement of processes, procedures, and programs using prevailing continuous improvement and innovation methodologies. In addition, the position will coach departmental staff to ensure project management best practices are applied to projects.

What You Will Bring to this Position
As detailed in the Learning Services Project Manager position description, the successful candidate should bring the following knowledge, experience, and abilities to this position:
* Relevant Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
* Three or more years of relevant professional experience.
* Strong project management skills with the ability to balance the needs of multiple projects.
* Proficiency in the use of relevant project management technologies.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g., SharePoint, Excel, Power Platform).
* Proficiency in using online communications software (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
* Ability to coach MLS staff in the development of project management competencies.
* Ability to effectively develop and maintain vendor relationships.
* Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Moodle).
* Familiarity with prevailing instructional design theories, models, and principles.
* Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team setting.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including a courteous, cooperative, and flexible attitude.
* Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
* Strong customer service orientation.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

In addition, while not required, the following qualifications are desirable:
* Not-for-profit or public sector experience.
* Knowledge of libraries and their missions.
* Experience working with different types of libraries and/or library consortia.
* Certificates or industry certifications relevant to this position (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, LSSBB).
* Advanced or terminal degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in instructional design, project management, business management, public administration, or other relevant field.
What You Will Do in this Position
As detailed in the Learning Services Project Manager position description, this position will engage in the following activities:
Project Responsibilities (50%)
* Working within the vision of MLS leadership to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, and close projects for the development or improvement of learning programs and services.
* Working with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
* Developing detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
* Overseeing the selection and management of external vendors to ensure high-quality work.
* Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies.
* Communicating effectively within and between projects to ensure project success.
* Ensuring the smooth implementation and integration of project deliverables.
* Evaluating the effectiveness of learning projects and conducting continuous improvement.
Manager Responsibilities (40%)
* Working collaboratively with other members of the Learning Services Manager Team.
* Providing project management expertise to projects led by other department staff.
* Cultivating a project management culture within the Learning Services Department.
* Developing, managing, and improving project management processes and procedures.
* Coaching department staff on project management processes and procedures.
* Ensuring adherence to accessibility standards for learning services projects.
Other Responsibilities (10%)
* Staying current in one’s area(s) of expertise through professional development.
* Cultivating collaborations in support of MLS programs and services.
* Serving on committees, task forces, and workgroups.
* Performing other duties as assigned.
