Supervisory Library Assistant, Turner Free Library (Randolph)

The Town of Randolph is seeking a Full-Time (35 hour) Supervisory Library Assistant to assist patrons at the Turner Free Library. Responsible for exemplary customer service at busy circulation desks of a popular public library. Will answer phones, check patron materials in and out, register new patrons for library cards and internet access, complete hold lists, issue and replace library cards, assist with holds and renewals, prepares and sends overdue notices, collects fines, resolves overdue and lost materials issues. Provides supervisory services in the absence of the Library Director, Librarian Managers and Circulation Chief which includes resolution of patron issues, physical plant problems, and routine opening and closing of the building. Enforces Library policies and procedures as necessary to maintain appropriate Library use by patrons. 

Qualifications

High School diploma/GED and experience in library work or a similar public service position; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

KNOWLEDGE: Working knowledge of multiple computer software and databases required to exercise daily duties, including, but not limited to: Workflows, SAM, ILL, VirtCat, Open Office, Microsoft Office, assorted reference databases, the Turner Free Library home page, and the internet.

ABILITY: Ability to communicate effectively in-person, via phone, email and in writing with co-workers, the public and volunteers. Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of patron circulation records, information and material selection.

SKILL: Strong administrative and computer skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
