Part Time Library Assistant (19 hours), Turner Free Library (Randolph)

The Town of Randolph is seeking a Part-Time (19 hour) Library Assistant to assist patrons at the Turner Free Library. Responsible for exemplary customer service at busy circulation desks of a popular public library. Will answer phones, check patron materials in and out, complete hold lists, straighten shelves, conduct readers advisory, provide computer troubleshooting, issue and replace library cards, assists with reserves, aid with materials processing, collect fines, and prepare and send overdue notices. Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma/GED and experience in library work or a similar public service position; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

KNOWLEDGE: Working knowledge of multiple computer software and databases required to exercise daily duties, including, but not limited to: Workflows, SAM, ILL, VirtCat, Open Office, Microsoft Office, assorted reference databases, the Turner Free Library home page, and the internet.

ABILITY: Ability to communicate effectively in-person, via phone, email and in writing with co-workers, the public and volunteers. Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of patron circulation records, information and material selection.

SKILL: Strong administrative and computer skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
