Adult & Teen Services Librarian, Mattapoisett Free Public Library (Mattapoisett)

The Mattapoisett Free Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, creative, and community-minded Adult & Young Adult Services Librarian to join our team. Located in the heart of a beautiful coastal New England town, our library is known for its welcoming atmosphere, engaged patrons, and strong community support.

We are fortunate to have enthusiastic library users, supportive town leadership, dedicated trustees, an active Library Trust, and a vibrant Friends of the Library group that help make the library a thriving cultural and educational hub. Our staff members work closely together and take pride in creating a warm, friendly environment for patrons and colleagues alike.

The Adult & Young Adult Services Librarian plays an important role in helping the library continue to grow and innovate. This position is ideal for a librarian who enjoys connecting with people, experimenting with creative programming ideas, and helping the library continue to evolve as a dynamic community space.

Key Responsibilities
Provide reference and reader’s advisory services for adult and teen patrons.


Plan and present engaging programs and events for adults and young adults. Creativity, collaboration, and new ideas are encouraged.


Develop, select, and maintain materials for the adult and young adult collections in multiple formats.


Build relationships with local schools, community groups, and organizations to support teen engagement and outreach.


Assist patrons with technology, digital resources, and research questions.


Create promotional content for library programs and services, including website and social media posts.


Participate in circulation desk coverage and general public service responsibilities as needed.


Collaborate with staff to support library initiatives, community partnerships, and special events.

Qualifications

Required

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program, or currently enrolled in an accredited program.


Strong commitment to public service and community engagement.


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.


Preferred

Experience working in a public library.


Experience planning and presenting programs for adults and/or teens.


Familiarity with integrated library systems, digital resources, and emerging technologies.

$30.63 - $33.44  / hour
