Intermediate Level Adult ELL Teacher, Watertown Free Public Library (Watertown)
Project Literacy, a division of the Watertown Free Public Library, is a community-based adult English language learning program in Watertown, Massachusetts. We serve over 800 learners in professionally taught classes, in small groups, and working one on one with tutors.
We are searching for an energetic, experienced intermediate level ELL teacher to join our dynamic team of passionate teachers for a summer 2026 in-person class. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00 pm in June and July. This position may also be eligible to join the 2026/2027 academic year schedule which runs from mid-September to mid-May. Those classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm.
The schedule includes 6 hours a week (3 hours of teaching and 3 hours of lesson planning) for the summer classes with the possibility of continuing for the academic year (September-May) at 7 hours/week with regularly scheduled staff meetings every 6-8 weeks.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and teach lessons
that actively engage adult students in English language
learning at the intermediate level
• Work with
other staff members on student, program, and teaching
issues
• Participate in regular staff meetings and
in-service workshops
• Maintain required records
such as student attendance, student progress, and student
goals
• Share Project Literacy updates with
students
Qualifications
• B.S./B.A. or M.A. in ELL or related field
preferred
• Experience in teaching with a
participatory, learner-centered approach, preferably with
adult immigrants in a community-based setting.

Experience with Google Cloud Platform preferred
•
Fluency in a second language preferred
