Community Engagement Assistant, Harvard University Archives (Cambridge)

Reporting to the Harvard University Archives, Community Engagement Assistant will assist the Associate University Archivist for Community Engagement (AUACE) in support of the Harvard University Archive (HUA) and its outreach and engagement work.
HUA is Harvard’s repository of university and personal archives, documenting nearly 400 years of Harvard history. Collections include University records, faculty and student papers, and affiliated University records (such as student groups and publications) and include documents, audiovisual materials, objects and ephemera, and web-based materials. The Community Engagement Assistant will assist the AUACE with research into the University Archives’ collections to support work such as, but not limited to:
• HUA’s exhibition program;
• HUA’s outreach and programming;
• HUA’s social media accounts; and
• special projects for University administrators.

The Community Engagement Assistant performs the following essential duties and responsibilities, alone and in collaboration with the staff of the Harvard University Archives:
• Assist with research in support of HUA’s exhibition program, including physical and digital exhibits
• Assist with research for University-based user groups, such as University administrators and Schools, including the identification of appropriate materials for outreach and programming
• Research and identify visual content for various communication platforms, including Harvard Library publications and HUA’s social media channels

Qualifications

Current enrollment in a MSLIS program with a focus on archival management
• Completion of a minimum of 3 courses, including a reference course and introduction to archives course
• Experience or interest in archival research
• Demonstrated experience and familiarity across social media platforms
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills (oral and written)
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously / multitask
• Interest in institutional history and arts administration
• Experience with MS Suite, including Sharepoint
• Commitment to inclusion and belonging values
