LHT Access Services Assistant for Harvard Library at Harvard Law School, Harvard Library (Cambridge)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Scheduling: 14 hours per week. Fixed schedule determined based on departmental needs and subject to change with changes to the academic year.

Collections: day-to-day shelving including monographs, serials, looseleafs and microforms; stacks pick up, inventory, measuring, shifting, and transfers to remote storage; assists with end processing.

Resource Sharing: assists with interlibrary loan activities including Scan & Deliver and Borrow Direct workflows.

Circulation: opens and/or closes the library; performs tasks associated with Alma circulation system (loans/returns, creates holds, etc.); communicates and enforces library policies; assists patrons with HOLLIS catalog; assists patrons in finding and accessing materials.

Information Services: provides basis information services, instructs patrons in use of equipment (such as scanner, microfilm reader); refers complex reference questions to specialized research staff.

Qualifications

·         High school diploma or equivalent education required

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills

·         Strong public service orientation, with previous library or related customer service experience required

·         Computer skills must include Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, as well as collaborative tools (e.g. Google Suite, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
