Adult Programming & Outreach Coordinator, Rogers Free Library (Bristol, RI, RI)

The Rogers Free Library is a vibrant hub of learning and community engagement nestled in the scenic coastal town of Bristol, RI. TYPE OF WORK:

The Rogers Free Library is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial, forward-thinking, and community-focused professional to fill the position of Adult Programming and Outreach Coordinator.  The successful candidate will have knowledge of professional library principles, practices, and services, as well as a broad background in marketing, public programming, and social media.

This individual will be responsible for planning and executing programs for adults at the Rogers Free Library, including marketing and promotion of events and services. They liaise with all library departments to streamline external communications in consultation with the Library Assistant Director. All efforts should align with the mission and values of the Library. They report to the Assistant Library Director/Adult Services Coordinator.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

The essential functions listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed and are not intended to be all-inclusive.

●        Coordinate the overarching program and marketing plans for the library.

●        Plan and implement a variety of library programs based on community need and aligning with the library’s mission for the full demographic of adults.

●        Build new and maintain existing relationships with community partners and agencies to develop responsive programming.

●        Collaborate with other departments to plan and implement intergenerational programming.

●        Create web and social media content to promote adult programs and engage the community in creative ways.

●        Promote library programs in-house, online, and throughout the community using marketing channels such as print and email newsletters, social media, flyers, the library website, press releases, and other platforms.

●        Produce a weekly press release, which includes photos for the local newspaper (Bristol Phoenix), as well for other news outlets as needed. 

●        Schedule, travel to, and implement adult outreach programming to deliver and promote library services for those who are unable to visit the library (ex. crafts, lectures, floating library).

●        Coordinate homebound delivery services to patrons. Enroll new patrons, manage both delivery of materials and volunteer drivers.

●        Balance an allocated budget for programming and outreach services.

●        Gather feedback and collect data from the community to evaluate programming and outreach effectiveness and recommend improvements or new initiatives based on that data.

●        Maintain accurate records of program outcomes, outreach efforts, and participant engagement for assessment and reporting purposes.

●        Attend and participate in regular leadership team meetings.

●        Attend professional library conferences, seminars, and network committees; read professional literature; attend and actively participate in staff and department head meeting discussions.

●        Substitute at service desks as needed.

●        Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

●        Strong social and communication skills, both verbal and written.

●        Social media and tech-savvy.

●        Organization and project management skills.

●        Able to work independently and collaboratively with other staff members in a supportive team atmosphere.

●        Handle various tasks, often simultaneously, with accuracy and composure.

●        Commitment and adaptability to ensure effective communication and successful execution of programs and outreach initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

●        Master’s in either Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution OR Communications OR Marketing preferred.

●        Minimum of three years professional experience required; professional or para-professional library experience preferred.

●        Must be able to lift/move/carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

●        Usual office working conditions. Potential minimal exposure to noise, dust, inclement weather, temperature fluctuations.

●        Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and talk for potentially long periods of time. This includes using a computer monitor, monitor(s), keyboard, and mouse to complete many of the daily tasks as well as usual office equipment.

This is a $57,000 per year, full-time, non-union position with 37.5 hours minimum per week. This includes working nights and weekends e.g. for programming and outreach events.  This position will follow the Town of Bristol Employee Handbook and the Non-Union Employee Benefits Summary.
