Head of Circulation & Young Adult Services

The Head of Circulation & Young Adult Services oversees circulation operations, supervises staff, contributes to the library website and social media presence, and produces the library's bimonthly newsletter, promoting library services and community engagement. This position also develops and implements services and programs for teens and tweens.

CIRCULATION & PUBLIC SERVICE

 Supervise daily operations of the Circulation Desk to ensure high-quality patron service.
 Manage all circulation functions using Sierra.
 Oversee collection maintenance activities, including weeding, inventory, and shelf management.
 Guide staff in shelving, book repair, and opening and closing procedures.
 Coordinate all aspects of book clubs, including selecting, ordering, and managing books for discussions.
 Oversee the creation and upkeep of table displays.
 Maintain the cash drawer, handling transactions and ensuring accuracy.

COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING

 Maintain and update the library website and digital sign with current information and resources.
 Develop and manage social media content to promote and highlight library programs, services, and events.
 Create promotional materials and visually engaging displays using Canva and other design tools.
 Produce and distribute the library's bi-monthly newsletter and other marketing materials.

YOUNG ADULT SERVICES

 Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of services and programs for young adults.
 Conduct community needs assessments and use findings to develop responsive programs and services.
 Curate the young adult print and digital collections to ensure they reflect community interests and needs.
 Maintain a welcoming, safe, and orderly Teen Zone environment.
 Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers assigned to teen services

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

 Serve as the library liaison to Holliston’s middle and high school population and organizations serving youth.
 Develop partnerships with schools, community agencies, Youth and Family Services, and other stakeholders to support teen programs and services.
 Engage community experts, mentors, and volunteers to enhance library offerings for teens.

LEADERSHIP & ADMINISTRATION

 Supervise library technicians and pages, including training, assigning and reviewing work, and contributing to performance evaluations.
 Generate and analyze circulation statistics, financial reports, and other operational data.
 Participate as a member of the library management team through staff meetings, planning initiatives, and organizational projects.
 Maintain professional knowledge through conferences, workshops, committee participation, and professional literature.
 Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program is required. One or more years of professional library experience expected; supervisory experience preferred. Experience working with young adults is required.
