Youth and Teen Services Librarian, Dedham Public Library (Dedham)

The Dedham Public Library is looking to add a new full time member to be an active part of a close-knit, forward-thinking, competitive, convivial library team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, customer service oriented, innovative, tech savvy librarian to develop and deliver outstanding programming, services, and collections to the community.

The ideal candidate will be excited about the future of public libraries and seeking a position with growth potential.

Reporting directly to the Library Director, Collections and Circulation Manager, and the UX and Access Manager, this position will be a public and visible face of Youth and Teen Services, both within the library facilities and outside in the community.

The Youth and Teen Services Librarian will provide phenomenal customer service to all patrons of the library, as well as participate in the collection development and organization of materials, across all formats. They will assist with public relations and social media.  Additionally, they will assist in all experiential learning areas and maker spaces as needed.


Background desired:

MLIS degree required.
Knowledge and experience with 3D printing and makerspaces required
Proficiency with new and emerging technologies and video gaming technology required
Bilingual candidates, or those with functional knowledge of another language, are highly desirable
Knowledge of the developmental needs of children at various ages, and corresponding library services and materials
Knowledge of current trends in youth and teen engagement
Ability to be highly collaborative, and coordinate programming
Kind, patient, convivial, and flexible
Experience working with a diverse user community inclusive of all ages, ability and backgrounds
Excellent interpersonal skills and devotion to hospitality in public service
Experience with PR, specifically with creating promotional material as well as social media
Attention to detail and strong aptitude in written and oral communication

Position includes evenings and weekends.
