Adult Programming Librarian, Morse Institute Library (Natick)

The Morse Institute Library seeks applications for the position of Adult
Programming Librarian. This position is a member of the Knowledge and Community
Services (KCS) team, working regularly with Library leadership and administration, and
reporting to the Supervisor of KCS. The Knowledge and Community Services team
provides Adult services in the four pillars of KCS (Programming, Outreach, Information
Services, and Reader’s Services). The Adult Programming Librarian is responsible for
coordinating programming for Adults as part of the KCS team, and must demonstrate
excellence in customer service and reference interactions, with a working knowledge in
all areas of reference/information services, technology, readers advisory, and outreach.
The ideal candidate will lead the charge as part of a team in creating innovative
programming for the Adult population of Natick, as well as thinking creatively to utilize
and teach new and emerging technologies to enhance services to the public and staff
alike. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated aptitude in creative programming to
support and enhance lifelong learning, as well as a strong knowledge of technology and
virtual programming.

The Morse Institute Library is one of the public libraries in Natick, MA, governed by a
Board of Trustees that is committed to public service, intellectual freedom, diversity,
emerging technologies, growth, and innovation. The library is a hub of activity and
serves as a community and activity center as well as a resource for the educational,
vocational, and recreational needs of all its patrons.   

37.5 hours/week including evening shifts and a Saturday rotation.


Must have 1-3 years of experience working in a public library. Must have
the ability to work well in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills.
Technical literacy including experience with databases, Libguides, chat reference and
other virtual services is a plus.

Requires a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an accredited
