Library Director, The Worthington Library (Worthington)

Are you passionate about libraries and community engagement? Worthington, MA (population 1,100) is looking for a dedicated Library Director to lead our charming, community-driven library. This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a welcoming town while fostering a love of reading and learning!

This position is 25 hours per week, including shared coverage of two evenings per week and Saturdays.

Key duties and responsibilities:
-Oversee and engage in all library services, including but not limited to circulation, reference, and cataloging
-Plan and implement engaging library programs for all ages
-Maintain a diverse and fresh library collection through ordering, weeding, and stacks management
-Process all library material
-Train, supervise, and support a team of dedicated volunteers and a Library Assistant
-Work closely with the Treasurer on budget management, bill pay, and accounting
-Report to the Board of Directors monthly, and the MBLC annually (ARIS Report)
-Maintain and develop new community partnerships, including acting as a liaison with the local school and other local organizations and businesses
-Lead the transition to CW MARS

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-Knowledge of public library operations
-General comfort with technology
-Ability to foster a productive, cooperative working environment
-Ability to establish and maintain effective and productive community partnerships
-Knowledge of current trends and developments in library and information science, specifically in the public library sector
-Experience with grant research and writing
-Ability to direct, manage, and perform multiple tasks and projects concurrently
-Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
-Ability to work with diverse populations

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and additional training through the state within one year of employment
