Assistant Library Director, Attleboro Public Library (Attleboro)
The Attleboro Public Library is seeking an Assistant Library who completes Administrative and supervisory work assisting the Library Director in planning, administering and operating all activities of the Attleboro Public Library.
Duties include Oversees technology planning for the library. Performs special projects for the Director. Assists with staff training. Gathers data for planning purposes and uses statistical analysis of that data. Represents the library at events, meetings, workshops and programs in the absence of the Director or as assigned, including nights and weekends. Provides assistance at the public service desks as needed. Plans and implements outreach activities for underserved populations. Provides assistance and advice, as requested, in library administration. Assists the Director in budget preparation, planning and supervising the operation of the library; scheduling staff; developing library policies, programs and procedures. Coordinates library volunteers. Acts as Library Director in the absence of the Director. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
Masters’ degree in library science from an ALA accredited program and four years progressively more responsible experience in professional library work, including administration, collection development and library technology, training and programming; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Through knowledge of the principles and practices of professional library work. Understanding of public library organization and management. Ability to foster teamwork. Ability to handle public, volunteers and staff with tact and diplomacy. Capable to listen and react with empathy towards the public and their library needs. Familiarity with statistical analysis for planning purposes. Work independently on job specific projects. Display excellent written and oral skills.
