Technology Associate, Morse Institute Library (Natick)

Are you passionate about technology and do you love helping others? Due to a retirement, the Morse Institute Library has an opening for a Technology Associate. In this position, the Technology Associate is the go-to person for all things technology–keeping our computer systems running smoothly, supporting library staff, and helping the library to add and maintain the best tech so we can provide up-to-date services for the Natick community.  The Morse Institute Library is a library with strong community support in the town of Natick.

The Technology Associate will maintain computer systems and peripheral equipment for library staff, ensuring that everyone can work and access services efficiently. They will install and configure hardware and software, work with servers and virtual machines, and monitor ongoing operations, including security.

The Technology Associate should be a highly organized problem solver, able to diagnose hardware and software issues throughout the library, and respond quickly to tech challenges. There’s a fair amount of collaboration required between the Technology Associate and outside contractors/vendors to resolve technology issues, and present solutions to Library Administration when necessary.

The ideal candidate will also serve as an Administrator of the library’s website, overseeing functionality, code assets and pages; and update the website as per requests from library staff. The Technology Associate will also help Library Administration to plan for the future, recommending purchases for technology upgrades and software needs.

The Morse Institute Library values diversity in backgrounds and experiences, and the library’s leadership team is committed to an empathetic and supportive work environment. The Library is deliberate and self-reflective about the team we are building, and we are seeking professionals who are not only strong in their own aptitudes but care deeply about supporting the Natick community.

Qualifications

The Technology Associate must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, and have 2-3 years working in a library setting, with extensive knowledge of automated library systems and applications. In exceptional circumstances, specialized education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for part of the educational requirements.
