Temporary Part-Time Research & Instruction Librarian, Bridgweater State University - Maxwell Library (Bridgewater)

The Department of Library Services at Bridgewater State University is dedicated to meeting the needs of its communities, to updating its service models as pedagogies and librarianship evolve, to renewing the knowledge and skills of librarians and staff as practices change, to deploying new technologies to improve interactions with library users and to enhance user experiences. The Clement C. Maxwell Library at BSU is open an average of 94 hours each week during the academic year. It is a busy, dynamic place with classrooms, academic and administrative offices throughout the building. The library serves all BSU students, faculty, staff, researchers from across the country and world, as well as the residents of the surrounding communities.

Position Summary
The Department of Library Services invites applications for Part-time Research & Instruction Librarians. This is a temporary, non-benefited position. This position reports to Student Success Librarian. Hours may vary slightly when classes are not in session, during final exams, and on holidays.

*Tour of Duty 1: Wednesday 2 PM – 7 PM
*Tour of Duty 2: Thursday 2 PM – 7 PM
*Tour of Duty 3: Friday 8 AM – 4 PM

Qualifications

 Provide reference and research services to Bridgewater State University students, faculty, and staff, as well as to community users, which includes but is not limited to instructing users how to search the library’s catalog, print resources, electronic databases, and other available information sources.
· Instruct classes in research strategies, information ethics, information discovery, library resources, and resource analysis.
· Assist with assessment of instruction sessions or library services.
· Respond to inquiries in-person, by phone, email, and by chat.
· May assist with outreach and marketing activities under the direction of the chair of the Marketing Committee.

Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to working collaboratively with other librarians and/or staff on projects related to library services or programs.
Required Qualifications
· Graduate degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or current enrollment in such a program.
· Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills including the ability to interact tactfully and skillfully with a wide variety of individuals in a diverse work environment.
· Knowledge of print, electronic, and network-based information resources, and technologies.
· Ability to use technology effectively.
· Ability to adapt to change.
· Commitment to customer service excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience teaching library instruction classes or other teaching experience.
· Familiarity with basic concepts in teacher education and educational pedagogies and practices.
· Knowledge of K-12 resources, including children’s and young adult literature.


*Flexibility with work schedule is preferred.
