Library Director, Freetown Public Libraries (Freetown)

Are you the Library Director we are looking for? The Freetown Library Director will be committed to delivering comprehensive community services to patrons at two library sites in our town. They will serve as a leader for our library staff, and guide connection and collaboration with other department heads throughout our community. 

The Library Director is responsible for the management and operation of the library and its program of services in accordance with established policies. The director works our supportive group of Library Board of Trustees, as an active participant in policy and budget development, goal setting, planning, personnel, organizing, volunteers, evaluation and public relations. In addition to the good our new Library Director will be doing; they will also be involved in the EXCITING NEW library creation for Freetown! Our town is at the beginning of planning a brand-new library site in Freetown. With the goal of increasing centralized community access, collaborating with our COA department, and sharing in a brand-new site and building for our staff and patrons! Requirements:

·         BA or BS; Certification of Sub-professional Librarianship issued by the Board of Library Commissioners; and completion of the Basic Library Techniques classes within five years of hire or Master’s degree. 

·         Minimum seven years working in a library environment, including at least three years of progressively responsible public library experience

·         Experience with Workflows system or similar system preferred

·         Duties may require lifting up to 25 lbs. and standing/sitting/bending/squatting for periods of time

·         Applicants should have excellent communication skills (oral and written) and demonstrated leadership abilities.

·         Applicants must maintain a valid driver’s license. Available to flexible scheduling to support the needs of the community, as well as to be on call as an administrator to support issues if they arise after hours with the site/ programming. 

·         Background, Reference Check, CORI and driving record checks will be performed.
