Faculty: Library and Media Studies Full-time Tenure-Track, Salem State University (Salem)

The McKeown School of Education is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty member to serve as the principal administrator for the graduate program in Library Media Studies (LMS). The M.Ed. program in Library Media Studies prepares individuals to become PK-12 library teachers and administrators across Massachusetts and to meet the requirements for licensure. The successful candidate will have the skills necessary for program coordination and teaching graduate courses in Library Media Studies and undergraduate courses in children’s or young adult literature. While the graduate program in LMS is fully online, the faculty contract requires two days per week in person on campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.



This is an onsite position in Salem, MA with on-campus, in-person responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Doctorate in Library and Information Science, or MLIS degree.
Minimum of 72 credits of graduate coursework, which may include those taken to earn the master's degree.
Experience teaching in a PK - 12 school library setting.
Experience supervising library teacher candidates in pre-practicum and practicum experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of AASL (American Association of School Librarians) National School Library Standards.
Familiarity with Massachusetts DESE library teacher practicum and licensure processes.
