Library Director, Thompson Public Library (Thompson, CT)

The Thompson Public Library is seeking a community-oriented, intelligent, customer-service focused, creative, professional, and technologically capable individual to lead the library team.  The Library Director is a Librarian responsible for the administration and supervision of the Library and the provision of library services including programming, collection development, and building maintenance.  The Library Director is also responsible for fostering community partnerships and maintaining a professional relationship with the Town of Thompson's government.  The Director coordinates with the Connecticut State Library and participates in the regional library community of Connecticut.  Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.  The Library Director reports directly to the Thompson Public Library Board of Trustees and keeps the Selectmen's Office informed as appropriate.

Qualifications

- Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.

- Progressively responsible library experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory, managerial, or administrative role.

- Proven leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

- Strong commitment to public service, intellectual freedom, and community engagement.

- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with government officials, staff, and the public.

- Willingness to learn new technology.

- Familiarity with technology and computers.

- Familiar with managing social media.

- Experience with an integrated library system such as Koha, LS2, or Ex Libris; familiarity with Evergreen a plus.

- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, the ability to learn the online circulation system, fax machine, photocopier, printer, scanner, and laminator.

- Experience with online programs such as Gmail/Google Docs, Yahoo email, and Microsoft 365.

- Excellent communication skills.

- Excellent organizational skills.

- Detail oriented.

- Familiarity with the Bibliomation library consortium

- Three or more years of experience working in a library or education-related environment.

$60,000.00 - $70,000.00  / year
