Woburn Public Library is a national historic landmark built in 1879, boasting a state-of-the-art new addition that is an architectural marvel. The newly renovated space re-opened to the public in March 2019 and houses a spacious Children’s Room and Teen Room. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Woburn Public Library is seeking a professional librarian to assist at public service desks and with technical services and programming functions. This is a full-time, benefited position: 37.5 hours/week including one week night and alternate Saturdays.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responds to phone and in person inquiries from the public
· Assists with technical services – acquisitions, cataloging and processing new materials
· Participates in collection development, including selection and weeding of materials
· Develops Lib-Guides, book lists and other user aids
· Promotes use of the library through postings on the website and through social media
· Assisting with library programs and activities as needed
· Assists patrons with public computer use, including troubleshooting, printing, and scanning
· Assists patrons with digital resources, including OverDrive and library databases
· Provides Readers’ Advisory services
· Performs interlibrary loan functions (Commonwealth Catalog, OCLC, etc.)
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Masters in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution
· Excellent customer service skills and experience
· Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
· Must be comfortable answering basic technology questions regarding various devices and forms of digital content
· Ability to maintain acceptable professional boundaries when interacting with patrons
· Public library experience, ideally within the Minuteman Library Network, is preferred
