BiblioTemps® is an employment service of the Massachusetts Library System that provides experienced library workers for temporary placements in public, academic, and special libraries throughout Massachusetts.
Title: Library Assistant
Location: Forbush Memorial Library (Westminster, MA)
Position Type: Temporary
Start date: January 6, 2026
End date: June 25, 2026
Schedule: Tuesday 3pm-8pm; Wednesday 10am-3pm; Thursday 10am-3pm
One Saturday a month 9am – 2pm
Pay Rate: $17.50 per hour
CORI: Required
Description:
The Forbes Memorial Library is seeking a friendly, dependable, helpful, customer service-oriented person to work as a Library Assistant.
The Library Assistant performs circulation duties including but not limited to:
· Greeting library patrons
· Checking books in and out
· Shelving books
· Issuing library cards
· Answering phone calls, assisting patrons, and answering questions
· Provide support for library programing
· Assist technical services with collection maintenance
· Help patrons reserve and checkout museum passes
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Computer skills
· The ability to work with patrons of all ages and backgrounds
· Attention to detail
· The ability to work independently
· High School diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred
· Preferred - Experience with Evergreen and Assabet
