Circulation Supervisor, Belmont Public Library (Belmont)
As we begin moving into our BRAND NEW LIBRARY (set to open January 2026), there's never been a more exciting time to join the team in Belmont. This role supervises and performs all circulation desk duties. Checks materials in and out, renews materials, collects and records fees and fines, answers main desk telephone, reserves materials and processes reservations and network transfers, notifies patrons regarding reserved materials availability, issues library cards and enters patron data to computer records. Plans, organizes, assigns and directs the work activities of all Circulation staff to realize the department’s work goals, to ensure the consistent application of department and library policies, procedures and guidelines, and to provide accurate, efficient and friendly services. Creates work schedules and prepares timesheets. Trains staff, new employees and volunteers regarding circulation duties. Interviews and recommends circulation staff applicants for employment, recommends employee discipline. Participates in on-going training. Represents the Library to various network committees as assigned. Attends and participates in Network meetings, library and other meetings as assigned. Provides patron assistance and responds to questions and concerns. Sorts, distributes and processes materials from other libraries; sorts and shelves materials. Compiles statistics, prepares articles for newsletters and assists with promotional information. Troubleshoots minor photocopier operating problems.
The hourly pay range is $27.32 - $32.89. This position works 35 hours per week and is eligible for the Town’s comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and life insurance. This position is in the SEIU Local 888 Union and is subject to the respective collective bargaining agreement.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. One to three years library experience with supervisor and automated library circulation experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job.
