Technology Librarian, Westfield Athenaeum (Westfield)

The Technology Librarian is responsible for library-wide technology support and services to ensure current, secure, and reliable technology that sustains and enhances the services of the the Athenaeum. This position also provides customer service and answers reference questions at public service desks, as well as develops and offers technology education for the staff and the public. The Technology Librarian maintains and troubleshoots public and staff PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, hotspots, and related equipment, performs all PC configuration and maintenance activities, including software updates, and recommends and implements hardware and software upgrades. The person in this position also provides instruction and assistance to staff and patrons in using computer equipment, software, and emerging technologies. In addition, this position oversees the functionality of security cameras.

Qualifications

1. A Bachelor's degree and an MLS is preferred, but not required. A thorough knowledge of current and emerging information technologies related to public libraries is desired. Familiarity with cloud-based security programs and firewalls is important. Knowledge of routers and other networking equipment and wireless networking is also important. Strong time management and organizational skills, along with outstanding interpersonal and communications skills, is also essential. Prior library experience is not required. The main focus of this position is the care and upkeep of our computer and technology systems.

Salary Notes

Applicants with an MLS would start at $25.29 an hour.
