Part-Time Librarian, Woburn Public Library (Woburn)

ABOUT WOBURN PUBLIC LIBRARY

Woburn Public Library is a national historic landmark built in 1879, boasting a state-of-the-art new addition that is an architectural marvel. The newly renovated space re-opened to the public in March 2019 and houses a spacious Children’s Room and Teen Room. ABOUT THE ROLE

The Woburn Public Library is seeking a part-time professional librarian to provide public service at the Reference Desk and assist with collection development and programming functions.  



CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Responds to phone and in person inquiries from the public

·         Participates in collection development, including selection and weeding of materials

·         Develops Lib-Guides and other user aids

·         Promotes use of the library through postings on the website and through social media

·         Assisting with library programs and activities as needed

·         Assists patrons with public computer use, including troubleshooting, printing, and scanning

·         Assists patrons with digital resources, including OverDrive and library databases

·         Provides Reference and readers’ advisory services

·         Performs interlibrary loan functions (Commonwealth Catalog, OCLC, etc.)

·         May fill in as needed at other public service desks, including Circulation and Children’s

·         Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

·         MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited institution   

·         Excellent customer service skills and experience

·         Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

·         Must be comfortable answering technology questions regarding various devices and forms of digital content

·         Public library experience, ideally within the Minuteman Library Network, is preferred

$34.11 - $45.13  / hour

Salary Notes

Commensurate with experience; 18 hours per week
