Senior Library Technician, Stoneham Public Library (Stoneham)
The Adult Services department in Stoneham is hiring a Full-Time Senior Library Tech to join a great team. Programming is a big part of the job, which makes it a perfect fit for current or hopeful LIS students interested in gaining valuable experience.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to perform a variety of clerical and manual tasks in support of cataloging, circulation, acquisitions, and interlibrary loan functions of the library.
Operating computers, printers and all other standard office and library equipment, the Senior Library Technician provides assistance in various phases of operation including but not limited to: reader advisory services; issuing library cards; checking books and other materials in and out, and regularly
assisting with displays and programs.
The Senior Library Technician works under the general supervision and administrative direction of the department head or other librarian. The number of hours for this full-time position is 35 per week, including some weekend and evening
hours. This is a union position within Stoneham Library Association.

Qualifications
High school education; or any equivalent combination of education or experience.
Working knowledge of library principles and procedures. Knowledge of books, authors, and titles. Knowledge of interlibrary loan procedures. Knowledge of Dewey Decimal System.
Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner. Ability to work with detail. Ability to perform all duties associated with circulation, cataloging, maintaining and updating library registration, etc.
Skill in typing and in use of other standard office machines. Skill in computer operations. Interest in reading.
