Associate, Thayer Memorial Library (Lancaster)

This position is part time (19 hours) and is responsible for providing front-line customer and operational services for the Thayer Memorial Library, including processing media, handling collections, assisting patrons, staffing the circulation desk, and supporting programs and communications. Performs other related job duties as required.

The current schedule requires working Mondays and Thursdays until 8:00 p.m. and three Saturdays per month from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Additional substitute hours may be required as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent, along with one year of general library experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and professional experience.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILLS

Knowledge: Knowledge of general library operations; office technology and equipment, including office software (email, word processing, social media, and web applications); and standard office procedures. 

Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with tact and discretion; fairly and tactfully enforce policies; maintain confidentiality; maintain good public relations and effective collaborative working relationships; respond in a courteous and professional manner; and work with diverse groups. Ability to use, and guide others in using, computers for automated library functions. Ability to multi-task, work independently, and be self-motivated.

Skills: Effective communication, customer-service, organization, and clerical skills. Skill in using a personal computer to locate, enter, and process information.

Salary Range

$18.98 - $25.39  / hour

Salary Notes

Starting compensation is expected to fall between $18.98 and $20.80 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
