Circulation Staff Assistant Part-Time, Marlborough Public Library (Marlborough)

The Marlborough Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, team player for a part-time (19 hours/week) job to join our Children's Department. This position is part of the MMEA union and includes paid sick time and vacation. Our team is supportive, fun, and enjoys serving the families of Marlborough. 

Duties include providing excellent customer service and hospitality while staffing the children's desk, assisting parents and children with book recommendations, assisting with children programming, developing attractive displays, and other duties as assigned.

This is a great position for those interested in exploring Children's Services at a public library. 

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have a positive attitude; a desire to help people; the ability to learn new technology and adapt well to change; strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Must be reliable. Familiarity with Spanish, Portuguese desirable. 

Requirements include a high school diploma, ability to receive, understand, interpret and carry out library policies and procedures, experience working with children, flexibility in scheduling including regularly assigned evening and weekend hours. Must be capable of operating computers and various pieces of office equipment, must have the ability to move around the facility; walking, sitting, bending, climbing, kneeling, carrying, stooping, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
