Coordinator of Library Services ( Electronic Resources, Instruction, & Research Librarian), Mount Wachusett Community College (Gardner)

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of the Collaborative Learning Commons, the Coordinator of Library Services: Electronic Resources, Instruction, & Research Librarian is an integral part of the LaChance Library staff (4 staff members plus the Assistant Dean) and the Collaborative Learning Commons (CLC). The CLC is comprised of LaChance Library, the Learning Success Center, and Testing Services; they share a common strategic plan and physical space.

The successful candidate will maintain the library's electronic services and technology needs (CWMars, AspenDiscovery, SpringShare/LibApps, etc.) and grow the quality of our digital interface experience through collaboration with LaChance Library staff and other CLC departments as well as with students, faculty, and other stakeholders. This includes setting a schedule and establishing policies and procedures for technology, including selecting and maintaining social media. The candidate will also provide instructional support as needed and scheduled hours at the Research Help Desk.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate library electronic resources and technological systems. Assess status of resources and systems and update as needed. Increase quality of library electronic resource interactions. Review new and updated technological offerings to advise Assistant Dean and Library staff of future possibilities.
Develop library/Collaborative Learning Commons social media presence. Select appropriate technologies for maximizing student contact and encouraging library use. Collaborate with CLC staff, marketing, UX Committee, and other stakeholders to leverage social media postings in impactful ways. Collaborate to maintain postings in ReadyEd app and other specifically selected social media.
Provide Library Instruction as needed on Gardner and/or Leominster campuses. Be available to provide instruction on days when you are already located on a given campus. Treat instructional opportunities as a chance to pilot or highlight new technologies and interfaces when reasonable.
Serve at Reference/Research Helpdesk as needed on Gardner and/or Leominster campuses. Maintain a regular schedule of hours across both campuses. Treat reference and research time as a chance to pilot or highlight new technologies and interfaces when reasonable.
Contribute to Library Collection development.
Engage in professional development activities as assigned, or as requested and approved, to maintain professional knowledge.
Perform other duties as assigned consistent with MCCC Contract Article 12.04 A.6.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Library Science, or closely related field;
Five (5) years experience and/or training involving library operations, reference service, bibliographic instruction, circulation service, copy cataloging and library information systems; or
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Desired Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal skills;
Evidence of service to varied student demographics, including historically-marginalized students, first generation, student-parents, and students with accommodations;
Experience with electronic resources in instruction and reference/research;
Experience advocating for racial equity in an academic context;
Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning pedagogy. 
A strong understanding and interest in electronic services aspects of varied academic library functions is essential to this position.
Empathetic listening, critical and creative thinking, and strong collaboration and communication skills are highly valued.

$69,027.00 - $117,655.00  / year

Salary Notes
