Teen Librarian, Morse Institute Library (Natick)

The Morse Institute Library has an opening for a creative and enthusiastic full-time Teen Librarian (37.5 hours per week.) The Morse Institute Library is a library with strong community support in the town of Natick.

The Teen Librarian plans, implements, and advocates for services for teens, curating content for and with teens, including collection development and reader’s advisory. They will adopt a community engagement mindset, and develop and maintain effective relationships with schools, community groups, agencies and nonprofits that target youth in order to plan and deliver programs and services that meet local teen needs and interests.

Outreach and programming (including STEAM, 3D printing, and teen tech topics) are important components of this position. The Teen Librarian will work with outreach staff, utilizing the library’s newly arrived bookmobile to engage with teens across Natick.

The ideal candidate would have strong technology skills, and familiarity with social media platforms. Bilingual abilities, experience with Springshare apps, Sierra, and/or basic computer troubleshooting skills are a plus.

Qualifications

The Teen Librarian should have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited institution, and have a demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population. In exceptional circumstances, specialized education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for part of the educational requirements.
