Youth Services Librarian, Berlin Public Library (Berlin)
The Berlin Public Library seeks applicants for the position of Library Assistant II, Youth Services Librarian. This is an eighteen (18) hour per week position working under the direction of the Library Director. Work will be performed over 4 weekdays per week, Monday 11:00am-5:00pm, Tuesday-Thursday 2:30pm-6:30pm. Schedule is negotiable for the right candidate. Work includes evening hours and one Saturday shift per month, 10:00am – 1:00pm.
The work includes providing library services to children, young adults, and their caregivers; planning and leading children’s programming; collection development; and collaborating with local educational and cultural institutions. Duties also include general circulation tasks and maintaining the appearance of the children’s room. Work is performed under supervision of the Library Director.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years experience working with children required, MLS a plus. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience are also encouraged to apply. ILS experience preferred; Evergreen software a plus. The successful candidate has excellent customer service skills, prior experience working with children in a library or other education setting, and knowledge of trends in children’s literature.
